The Art of Sheep Fiber Extraction in Afghanistan

The Art of Sheep Fiber Extraction in Afghanistan

In the rugged landscapes of Afghanistan, the ancient tradition of sheep fiber extraction is an art deeply ingrained in the cultural fabric of the region. This intricate process, dating back centuries, not only sustains local communities but also contributes to the creation of prized wool used in various traditional textiles. In this exploration, we delve into the fascinating journey of how sheep fiber is extracted in Afghanistan, highlighting the meticulous steps involved in this age-old practice.

Sheep Rearing:

The process begins with the careful rearing of sheep, a vital component of the Afghan agricultural landscape. Local breeds, well-adapted to the harsh environmental conditions, are raised by nomadic or semi-nomadic communities. The breeds, such as Karakul and Kuchi, are selected for their hardiness and the quality of wool they yield.

Shearing Process:

The shearing of sheep is a skilled task usually performed by experienced and trained individuals within the community. This process typically takes place in the spring when the sheep’s wool is at its peak quality. The shearing is done with precision to ensure the removal of the fleece without causing harm to the animal. Traditional hand shears are often used, preserving the authenticity of the practice.

Wool Sorting and Grading:

Once the fleece is sheared, it undergoes a meticulous sorting and grading process. This step is crucial in determining the quality of the wool and its potential applications. Skilled artisans assess factors such as fiber length, fineness, color, and cleanliness. The wool is then separated into different grades, each destined for specific textile products.

Cleaning and Washing:

Afghanistan’s sheep fiber extraction process places a strong emphasis on cleanliness. The raw wool is cleaned and washed thoroughly to remove impurities, dirt, and natural oils. This stage involves the use of locally sourced water, and in some cases, traditional soaps made from natural ingredients.

Spinning and Weaving:

The cleaned and sorted wool is then spun into yarn using traditional methods, often done by hand using a drop spindle or a spinning wheel. The spun yarn is then meticulously woven into intricate patterns using traditional handlooms. This craftsmanship results in textiles that showcase the rich cultural heritage of Afghanistan.

Dyeing and Finishing:

The final touch involves dyeing the woven textiles, a process that employs natural dyes sourced from local flora. This adds vibrant colors to the textiles while maintaining an eco-friendly and sustainable approach. Once dyed, the textiles undergo finishing processes, including pressing and polishing, before they are ready to be introduced to local markets or exported.

Preserving Heritage and Livelihoods:

The art of sheep fiber extraction in Afghanistan not only produces high-quality wool but also sustains the livelihoods of countless artisans and communities. The process embodies a harmonious blend of tradition and practicality, showcasing the resilience and resourcefulness of the Afghan people.

Conclusion:

In the heart of Afghanistan, the extraction of sheep fiber is not merely a process; it is a cultural legacy passed down through generations. This intricate journey, from sheep rearing to the creation of vibrant textiles, reflects the resilience, skill, and deep connection to the land that define the Afghan people and their enduring traditions.

Brief discussion of auto marker & making process

Brief discussion of auto marker & making process

Let’s get back to the initial time of cutting department of garments industries there is no facility like auto marker. All the time in bulk cutting they used marker, however; how did they make it? In that case; can you say that in a single sentence? Well let me tell you, they make it manually placing one pattern by by one. Marker is most important element to complete the bulk cutting.

Now question is what is marker in detail ?

Marker is sheet of paper. where every parts of garments are plotted as per layer or cutting plan. Always the marker man makes marker by breakdown a ratio from PO quantity. As per company working policy; this ration also can be provided by cutting planer. Marker maker input the ratio into marker making software to make desire marker for production.

This is the package of garments parts, which let us to enhance the cutting production with limited period of time.

How did they make manual marker?

Question Is little weird, isn’t it? How did they ? Because the manual marker making isn’t used in large production. This is very long process and it’s efficiency isn’t good as in computerized methods.

The maker man makes marker by placing one pattern by one. If maker Missed something he/she need to erase drawn marker and do that again. This is very complicated process & unable to change anything after finish the marker. It’s required much more time and manpower than computerized method.

What is Computerized method?

As I mention earlier, it’s easiest way to place the Patten one by one and check how much efficiency we are achieving n. On the other hand, if we change any placement and see much eefficiency increased or decreased. This is helps a lot the marker man to achieve desire efficiency goal.

Auto marker.

Technology improving rapidly and it’s adding new features everyday to progress CAD and CAM technology. Auto marker is one of them. It’s doesn’t take long time to make any marker. Within two minutes it can be possible to make any marker. which is at least 10 minutes work for a marker man. Almost every top ranking recognizes software company are providing such auto marker facilities with its main software by adding some extra charges.

How it’s work?

As simple as like convert a video files from .avi to .mkv . Just open the software, input the marker, set your desire time, setting and go for process. Done!

Point should be noted. “that the file type doesn’t change at all”. File type remain same. to reduce Fabric wastage all the pieces must placed perfectly

You can also send new created and unplaced marker to nesting directly from your working folder. Using “send to option” as like we send some file to flash drive from computer.
So simple!

How to handle no job depression?

How to handle no job depression

Finding a job with no experience is a challenging task, as most of the job seeker think in this days. My question is don’t you know the people are working in leading position today? Who was like you, looking for job a certain time in their life. I agree; it’s a little difficult to get a job in saturated market place. But it’s not impossible and not even that much hard as you think. Some people make it complicated.

Let me tell you a story

Once a rich man saw a man almost frozen in coldness beside his castle. He walk towards him and ask how could you survive in such weather condition? And why don’t you get some worm cloths? I can’t afford to buy any worm cloths as per my low income, replied the poor man.

Rich man told him to wait their until he come back with some worm cloths. He go into the castle and got busy with servant and completely forget about that poor man. Next day morning he find him dead at the place where he suppose to wait for him.
The moral concept of this story is “the poor man adjust himself to survive in the weather condition without any worm cloths. When somebody assure him for worm cloths; he stopped fighting to survive and wait for worm cloths. And finally he died by frozen.

A person assure you that he/she will arrange a job for you. So you do the same things like the poor man. stopped fighting in job hunting and got nothing by the end of the day. It’s happens Most of the time.

A man must call you for interview if the organization need a person like you. What ever it’s by reference or from any job portal. So you have to fight until get the job.

I’ve observed no job depression

in my personal life; I got rejection without any valid reason when ever all of my interview, salary and formalities has done. I should’ve mention that I was over qualified for that position. This is the reason, COO of the company told me. Later on; I got job in the same organization in different department and amazingly double of salary. This is reality; you must accept that.

The intention of that story to tell you that some people in our society play the role like the rich man. On the other hand the poor man is you who looking for job. They show you that they are trying a lot to help you. But result? possibly nothing!

As far as I realize that most of the time they offer you the good food. You can’t eat, like the moral story of egret and fox. Such people kept remind you that you don’t have any experience. They offer you such job which required experience.

Let’s go through another story

that could help you to be Patience. Once a man jump in the ocean from a ship with any life boat. Because there is no life boat at all and the ship is sinking. Where he can go middle of the ocean without any boat and food? He was trying and trying to keep him alive with support of a piece of wood and hope.

It was night time and covered by darkness. He find a tiny island next morning to survive. Though that is a tiny island but it’s gave him shelter, food and water. He climb up to the peak of mountain looking for any ship. But unable to find any.

Finally he got the conclusion that this area is abandoned for ships. No big ships go through this way. Depth of the ocean isn’t good enough for any ships that’s why his ships was sunk.

He prepare him self to keep him alive and find a cave for shelter in night. Though that island isn’t a summer resort but he find the way to survive. Every day he climb up to the peak of mountain looking for any ship. But as far as he can see; nothing but water!

Now he hunt wild animal and roast in campfire which he made by stone’s. This Fire keeps him worm in night times when the temperature fall down. So he always keep it alive all the time what ever its day or night.

He knows the island very well and he has almost everything to keep him alive. But now he has losted the hope to go back to civilized society. So he doesn’t climb up to the peak of the mountain to looking for ships.

One day he goes to jungle for hunting and saw some smoke rising to the sky exact same direction of his shelter. He came back to the cave and see everything has gutted by his campfire. He lost everything which he gather himself for survival.

What you’ve done to me Allah? How would I survive any more in this island? This is how he crying and questioning to Allah.

How someting turn into unexpected?

He feels sleepy and slept on sand beside his gutted shelter. Dreaming that a ship has came and taking him back to the civilized society.

But he couldn’t reach the shore of any country. He wake up by some unusual sound like the horn of ship. He stand up and searching the source of the sound. A small ship is coming toward him and making that horn.

He for got excited and being so happy. He prays to Allah! Couldn’t believe it at all. The ship anchoring far away and a boat comes to the island to take him.

The first question he asked to the rescuer, how did you find me? The man replied it’s you who makes smoke signal and help us to find you.

What did you learn from this story? Never lose your hope and keep faith in Allah. Because “Allah is great planner”. Allah planes for everyone including mine and yours.

My suggestion for no job depression.

is; don’t be hopeless, be brave & patience. Try to get a job before it’s too late, grab something like the wood pieces or tiny island. what ever it’s less that particular area.

Brief discussion of Group marker and its purpose

Group Marker Featured

What is marker?

Marker is sheet of paper where every parts of garments are plotted as per layer or cutting plan. Always the marker man makes marker by breakdown a ratio from PO quantity. As per company working policy; this ration also can be provided by cutting planer. Marker maker input the ratio into marker making software to make desire marker for production. This is the package of garments parts which let us to enhance the cutting production with limited period of time.

As per cutting procedure and product quality issue, the marker man makes different type of marker called group marker & selvage marker. This is very important to go for those special marker if it’s required. Let’s find it out what is group & selvage marker.

Why do we need to make group marker?

Inspection team sometime gets one kind of dying faults called shedding on fabric so they asking for this special marker to avoided shading problem in ready garments. In a single line we can say that this marker is required when the selected cutting prepared fabric has uneven color formation in meter to meter.

What is group marker?

This is one kind of special marker makes as per quality issue suggested by quality inspection team. Most of the factory placed the inspection department on incoming section. When a fabric comes for production than its need to inspection to sustain product quality. And inspection team seat the fabric to store for storage and relax purpose. Finally cutting department received the fabric and go for bulk cutting.

Group maker’s pieces always stick together as much as possible.

How do they makes group maker?

Suppose we are making a marker for a garments where we have to take Back, Front, Sleeve and Moon. It’s required to place all the parts of garments as close as possible. Means all the parts should be placed nearby as a group. This is called group marker.

Group maker always increase the wastage of fabric and reduced the profit for manufacturer.

A good quality fabric can solve this problems.

What is selvage marker?

This is also a group marker but it’s has an extra requirement. All the parts of a garments should be placed length wise but stick together as a group like group marker. This type of marker required when inspection observed selvage shedding issue.

Selvage marker always placed the pieces length wise.

Advantage and disadvantage of group marker.

S/L
Advantage
Disadvantage
1 Reduce the color shading problems on complete garments Increased the fabric wastage & time.
2 Increased the garments quality as its standard Increased garments making cost and reduce the profit margin.
3 Easy to bundling after complete cutting process Required so much time to make group marker
4 Increased the possibility of Good quality garments. Automatic group marker is not good enough to go for cutting so its need to make it manually by placing garments pieces one by one.
5   Required extra man power to makes lay by different shade wise in cutting department.

Conclusion

It was a little discussion about group marker, if missing something you want to share? If yes; then write down on comment below and share with us. I’ll include it on the article as soon as I get it.
